Fundraising
The RAF Association's year-round fundraising campaign — and how our branch helps.
The Wings Appeal is the RAF Association's ongoing fundraising campaign that runs throughout the year. It is the fundraising arm of the Association and helps raise the vital funds needed to support serving and ex-RAF personnel and their families.
At its beginnings in 1951, fundraising for the Wings Appeal was centred on Battle of Britain week. Over time, fundraising methods have diversified and the appeal now spreads throughout the year, rather than concentrating on the Wings Week in September.
As the RAF Association does not receive any government funding, we depend on the generosity of the public and the selfless hard work of our volunteers. Fundraisers come in many forms — branch members, serving RAF personnel, ATC cadets, supportive companies and members of the public.
Holding charity collections in town centres, supermarkets and other public venues.
Placing collecting tins in public places across the local area.
Running our popular Teddy Bear competitions at events.
Manning stalls at public events such as air shows.
